Planning a wedding can get stressful, and typically your honeymoon is your reward for the hard work of putting together the party of a lifetime. However, the tide is turning. No longer are couples waiting for their nuptials to get away and spend quality time together.

Enter in moons, from an engagement-moon to a babymoon, mini-moons are becoming just as frequent as honeymoons. These trips are typically shorter in length and at a closer distance than a honeymoon.

Here, we break down all the “moons” and share our picks for the perfect place to unplug for every occasion.

Engagement-Moon

This is a romantic trip taken shortly after getting engaged to celebrate the happy news together. You’ll want somewhere where you can bask in the joy of your impending nuptials.

Seaside

Does anything sound more perfect than renting a cozy cottage that’s within walking distance to the beach? We didn’t think so. Let the sea breeze wash over you in idyllic Seaside with your new fiancé. You’ll want to do nothing but spend lazy days roaming the shops and soaking up the sun. Rent bikes to explore the town center where you can sip coffee, shop local boutiques and bookshops and end the day with dinner and cocktails at sunset.

Pensacola

History, beaches and a bustling downtown, Pensacola has all you could wish for in an adventure together. Palafox Street, a shopping and dining destination, holds the title of one of the “10 Great Streets in America.”

Mini-Moon

Saving for a house and can’t afford a huge overseas trip? Not sure you’ll have the time off work? Want to do a small, relaxing trip rather than a grand adventure? Then the mini-moon is for you. This small honeymoon usually takes place over a long weekend and at a closer to home location. You’ll want somewhere intimate with options that cater to just the two of you.

Destin/Miramar Beach

Destin provides some of the best resorts in the world, just steps away from the iconic sugar white sands and emerald waves. The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa and Tops’l Beach & Racquet Resort are just some of the many resorts offering experiences that cater to the couple from massages to golfing to paddleboard adventures. Destin is known for its variety of shopping and dining options.

Panama City Beach

For the action and activity-oriented couple, Panama City Beach might spark your interest with its variety of water activities, parks, shopping and packed events calendar. Paddle, canoe, swim or fish at Shell Island, and then enjoy a romantic sunset cruise at St. Andrew’s Bay. Enjoy the great Northwest Florida outdoors at Aaron Bessant and Frank Brown parks. Shop ’til you drop at Pier Park.

Baby-Moon

This trip celebrates your last vacation before you bring home a new bundle of joy. You’ll want somewhere with luxury and serenity to enjoy a little quiet time with your partner before your life changes for the better.

Rosemary Beach

Rosemary Beach’s distinct architecture has a French Quarter by the ocean feel with wraparound porches and a town center bustling with activity. The Pearl at Rosemary Beach is prime for relaxation. Imagine waking up, going out to your private balcony and taking in the expansive views of the Gulf. Spend afternoons lounging under complimentary oversized umbrellas and chairs, perfect for you and your growing belly.

Alys Beach

What’s more soothing than the serene sight of crisp white stucco walls and brilliant blue waters? Alys Beach is the ultimate destination for simple luxury. Stay in one of the gorgeous rental properties and explore the nearby Town Center with boutiques, dining and public green spaces.
