Leon County Clerk of Court, Goodwood Host Valentine’s Day Group Wedding

On Feb. 14, the Leon County Clerk of Court & Comptroller will make history by hosting the first ever Valentine’s Day group wedding in Tallahassee at Goodwood Museum & Gardens.

Twenty couples will be married at 2 p.m. on the front lawn of the main house. The ceremony will be officiated by Clerk Marshall Knight.

While working for the statewide clerks’ association, Knight had the opportunity to witness group weddings performed in other counties. He was inspired to bring about a group wedding in Leon County, and what better way than on a day dedicated to love.

“Seeing other clerk’s offices have these Valentine’s Day group weddings made me wish we could do them here,” said Kristy Mickler, official records manager at the office of the Leon County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller. “We are so excited our wish is coming true and hope to make wishes come true for the participating couples.”

Goodwood Museum & Gardens seemed to be the most fitting location with its majestic live oak trees, plentiful gardens and stately main venue.

“We were honored to be asked by the Leon Clerk of Court to partner with them to offer this inclusive public program,” said Chelsie Lane, marketing and programming coordinator with Goodwood Museum & Gardens. “Weddings are such momentous and joyful events in people’s lives. We are elated that we can play a part in this special day and are going the extra mile to make it memorable for all participants.”

Each couple is entitled to invite four guests. Light refreshments will be served at a reception following the ceremony. Couples will receive photos and a customized marriage certificate commemorating the day.

“This event will give couples a unique and affordable way to get married in a beautiful setting with a traditional experience,” Knight said. “In addition to this lovely moment for the happy couples, the event will showcase one of Tallahassee’s most magical and relaxing locations alongside products and services provided by businesses dedicated to this community. Based on the community’s response, we are looking to host this annual event for many years to come.”

Meanwhile, the clerk’s office is prepared to conduct weddings at the courthouse and at its northeast branch location on Valentine’s Day.
